The Spanish Language and Culture Heritage Programme (ALCE) is addressed to students of Spanish nationality (or descendants of Spanish nationals) of school age.
The ALCE follows a blended teaching programme which combines both in-person and online learning. The students attend a weekly lesson of 90 minutes, each of which takes place from Monday to Friday, after school hours, in one of the schools. The online part of the programme, which also lasts 90 minutes, is held on the MEFP online virtual environment platform called Aula Internacional (International Classroom).
Classes are divided into levels of language proficiency (from A1 to C1) corresponding to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. They run for a maximum of ten years in total.
At the end of the programme, on passing a final test, a Certificate of Spanish Language and Culture, issued by the Spanish Ministry of Education, is obtained, with a level of C1.
There are more than 300 schools in 12 countries, managed through 14 clusters (ALCE).
