New call for foreign language assistants in Spain!

The 2026-2027 application cycle for the Language Assistants in Spain program is already underway. Application requirements will vary depending on the citizenship of the applicant. Applicants should contact their corresponding International Organization or Education Office of the Embassy of Spain for specific requirements

The 'Language Assistants in Spain' program promotes high-quality language education by placing language asistants into Spanish schools to support foreign language learning.

The program also fosters a knowledge and the dissemination of the Spanish education system, as well as the Spanish language and culture acquired by the language assistants during their stay in Spain. In addition, it supports Spanish teachers by enriching their participation in bilingual educational programs, promoting the exchange of experiences, improving language skills and knowledge of other cultures.

Language assistants collaborate with speaking and listening skills in German, Chinese, French, English, Italian or Portuguese.

Who can apply for a position?

Any foreign citizen who has a university degree, or is a university student in at least their second year of study, with citizenship or permanent residency in one of the countries listed below.

How to apply for a position as a new applicant?

1. In Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Malta, Switzerland, the United Kingdom.

Applicants must apply through their corresponding international organization, according to that organization's guidelines.

2. In Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Côte d’Ivoire, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, Hungary, India, Iceland, Luxembourg, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oceania countries (Fiji, Solomon Islands, Tonga, and Vanuatu), Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Sweden, Thailand, Tunisia, the United States.

Applicants must apply through the Education Office of the Embassy of Spain corresponding to their country.

Is it possible to renew in the program?

Yes. Language assistants currently working in Spain can renew according to their country of origin’s guidelines. Renewals may request their same school or region or change to another region. Candidates applying for renewal must have a a positive review on their School Evaluation Report.
